Saturday went something like this:

Woke up

Drank some coffee

Went for a walk/jog by the river with Charlie and Ryan to Randall’s Island

Did a 30 minute non-stop sprinting/tricep dips/pushups/burpees/tuck jumps workout with Charlie

Grabbed a smoothie from the Green Bean Cafe

Wandered around the Union Square farmer’s market

Drank some beers and had a cookout on Alli’s roofdeck from about 5pm until midnight

Due to my level of relaxation, I wasn’t a winner of a photo taker of our dinner. Just use your imagination.

Some of the gorgeous tomatoes from the market got added into what ended up as a spicy caprese salad with mozzarella, fresh basil, and hot peppers.

Alli made zucchini blossoms. She stuffed them with ricotta and mozzarella and chives, rolled them in flour, and then cooked them up in oil ’til they were nice and melty and browned.

Adam got to work making buffalo meat burgers with farmer’s market ground buffalo, chives, and spices.

Alli made a great blueberry peach crumble for our dessert:

We also had veggie kabobs, grilled portobellas, and farmer’s market hot dogs. Yum.

After that, I did some sleep.

“It’s an empowering idea. The entire goliath of the food industry is ultimately driven and determined by the choices we make as the waiter gets impatient for our order or in the practicalities and whimsies of what we load into our shopping carts or farmers’ market bags.” - Jonathan Safran Foer ..............................................................
