day 1

now, let me start this post off by letting you all know that the south is far away. like, really far. i would also like to suggest that you do not try to drive from new york city to atlanta, georgia in a single day. while driving a budget u-haul style truck. without snacks. and only a radio as entertainment. if you ever feel the desire to try it, just live through my experience. i give you day 1:

this is what the moon looks like at 5am:

raw maple granola bar from the green bean cafe:

lunch stop in roanoke, va

grilled veggies + hummus + fresh mozzarella + basil on their freshly baked bread

great bread. decent sandwich.

did you know it’s fall in virginia? i didn’t.

the sun going down somewhere in SC:

and then, after 16 hours in a truck, we finally found this:

day 1? worth it.

“It’s an empowering idea. The entire goliath of the food industry is ultimately driven and determined by the choices we make as the waiter gets impatient for our order or in the practicalities and whimsies of what we load into our shopping carts or farmers’ market bags.” - Jonathan Safran Foer ..............................................................
